HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS PRINCE PHILIP, DUKE OF EDINBURGH.

All Members of the Smeatonian Society are deeply saddened to learn of the death of His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

His Royal Highness was an Honorary Member of the Society from 1953 and President in our 200th Anniversary year in 1971. He attended our dinners regularly, most recently in June 2017, and participated fully in our discussions. He was always, within the Society and elsewhere, a great champion of the engineering profession and its works and he was held in the highest regard by all our Members.

He will be greatly missed.
